10 Clutter Buster tips for your home

Refresh your abode with these super simple tips to create more space and flow in your home.

Clutter Buster 1 –Your Kitchen Cupboards

So often out-of-date food (especially tinned foods) lie in our cupboards for months, and even years.

There is always plenty cooking in the kitchen, and as such is a good place to begin to declutter. Just start with one cupboard, and see what happens!

Clutter Buster 2 – Fridge and Freezer.

Are both jammed packed full?

No space to see what's there.

Time to clean and clear and allow air to circulate.

Clutter Buster 3 – Those Dusty Books Take UP Space

Cluttered book cases gather dust, consume and constrict space.

My living room transformed by clearing 2 full book cases.

Clutter Buster 4 – Ornaments/ Pictures/ Music

  • Ornaments, less is definitely more, especially on those window ledges.

  • Time to review everything hanging on walls.

  • Like food, music also becomes outdated and can be draining energetically.

Clutter Buster 5 – Wardrobes/Clothes

Be honest and call out any resistance to clearing things out.

Why the attachment to this dress/blouse/shoes?

Does this garment truly represent me where I am in my life today? If not…

Clutter Buster 6 – Shoes/Handbags/Accessories

Handbag/shoe/ accessory fetish?

Why do you need so many?

Material possessions can never make us feel secure.

Clutter Buster 7 - Sinks and Drains

  • Drains block when pouring oil from the frying pan/tuna tin down the sink.

  • Expensive calling the plumber on a Sunday.

  • Sinks shinning clean are like a big gleaming smile from your kitchen.

Clutter Buster 8 – Windows

  • Windows allow the light to shine in our living spaces and the sky to be seen.

  • Dirty or unclean windows can dull the feel of your house

  • For extra sparkle, use crumbled newspaper, as the paper leaves a film that is resistant to dirt.

Clutter Buster 9 - Furniture

  • Old family furniture can often carry a heavy energy.

  • Don't hang on to it if not needed.

  • Clearing it out could be the most important thing you do this year.

Clutter Buster 10 – Give Yourself New Eyes

  • Walk around your home one room at a time.

  • What would you take, leave, throw out, or sell, if moving house.
